It seems crazy to say it, but here in SW PA we have more to worry about with grade changes and steepness than in the Rockies, Bighorns, etc. 22 2500 mega with rambox, gooseneck compatibility issues Question. OTOH, if you're driving in either flat, or the larger longer grade areas you may well not have an issue. So you cannot order the 5th wheel prep package with the ram boxes, I don’t need a 5th wheel I would just like to have the gooseneck. Blocking the trailer axles to raise that height was not optional. The biggest thing to keep in mind is watching for clearance issues with the trailer and bed rails since the bed isnt as wide, but that will be more of an issue with 5th wheels. When we got the '20 RAM, there were several inches less clearance over the bed rails and tailgate than with the '04. This is known and common issue for many with gooseneck horse trailers (particularly trailers more than 10 years old) that replace their trucks with newer trucks (that all seem to have higher bed rail heights). There is two screws (in front under rubber tray) that hold the top of the center console down, also careful pry up the trim ring. I would check to see if that outlet cam unplugged. And then even worse yet if it's during a sharp turn. That 12V outlet is only on with the ignition, the one on the back of the console is changeable from ignition to constant on. I have been towing a 40' Big Horn 5th wheel RV for two years with no issues. ![]() It has a 16K Reese 5th wheel hitch installed by Camping World in Oakwood, GA. The issue I've seen - and it almost bit me - was when the truck and trailer have to traverse either a short but deep dip, or a short but marked (hump), which can be aggravated if either are off camber - and made yet worse if the two are diametrically opposed camber. I presently own a 20 Longhorn w/6' 4' short bed, 4 x 4, single axle, with Ramboxes (fits snugly in garage).
